i just finally finished Kingdom Hearts 2 today. woohooo! 2 games finally finished! too bad i didn’t get one of Sora’s hidden drive form, the final form, but i guess that’s okay since i like anti-Sora form the most. okay, i started to sound like a gamer-geek (which is probably true).
but that’s not what i’m going to talk about tonight. kingdom hearts, as everyone who had played it might know, talks a lot about hearts, humans’ hearts. like how hearts affect one’s life or how hearts work. it talks about what the most important thing in life is a strong heart. same thing said by the game Persona 4. if in Persona 4 strong hearts could be acquired by being true to yourself and accept yourself for who you are, kingdom hearts has much simpler and yet more confusing explanation about what a strong heart is. unlike Persona 4 which has an operational definition, concrete example of a strong hearts, what i understand from kingdom hearts about strong hearts is something kinda vague, it almost has the same definition of one’s strong will. the thing which is common in both games is strong hearts are made through bonds with people.
still there’s a thing that kinda bothered me, Ansem’s last words before he blew himself up to save kingdom hearts (which is of course, fail). he said that he do what he heart says and how his mind was once denying to acknowledged the matters which his heart already knew. and Mickey’s words after that about once one’s heart has decided, it cannot be change, so it’d best to not interfere with it. but how would you know that it’s your heart’s decision? does hearts here have the same meaning as conscience? how does someone differentiates heart, desire, and wanting? there’s another of Ansem’s, about how hearts will always be unable to calculate. it contains the so called magic as dreams and hopes. maybe, just maybe, when you did some kinda things without even knew why you did that, you just felt you have to.do it. no logic reasons backed your actions. but is it really true that humans could do something without even thinking logical and calculate things? i don’t think so.
in my opinion, i guess these actions based on heart are something that’s already calculated. sue the humans’ brains for being too awesome to handle by the humans’ itselves. those are already calculated, the difference than normal actions is just these kinda action were being calculated fastly. too fast that the person doesn’t really have time to comprehend the reason. fast calculation based on heart, magically could based on sooooo many things which is unpredictable. things like emotion and feeling played such an important role on making decision to do these kinda actions.
darn it! i have more words to say and yet it all just kinda evaporated from my head because i’m half-sleeping… hurrrr… maybe i’ll write more tomorrow if i finally able to remember it…
